Nobile famiglia di S. Filippo di Agirò detta Apruzzo, Aprucio ma talvolta scritta anche Pruzzo; si vuole proveniente di Moscovia dove fiorirono Abbia de Apruz capitano del Granduca di Moscovia, e che si distinse contro i Tartari. Demetrio fu cancelliere di quel ducato come riferisce il Mugnos. Autori che parlano di questa famiglia: V. Palizzolo Gravina Barone di Ramione, nella sua opera " Il Blasone in Sicilia ossia Raccolta Araldica", stampato in Palermo nel 1871-75, ha offerto non poche notizie interessanti di questa famiglia, e delle gloriose tradizioni di quest'isola. Insieme al Minutoli, Invges, Mugnos e piu d'un instancabile Marchese di Villabianca, l'opera ha raccolto documenti, pergamene e testimonianze trasmesse da' componenti della casata stessa che parlano de' loro trascorsi, di virtù e gesta della propria schiatta.
