Ancient and illustrious family, of Tuscan origin, as noted, also, by an ancient bibliography printed in Florence by the Murate typography in the year 1856, entitled "Book of Florentine nobles, now for the first time highlighted". Numerous characters of this surname are often mentioned in notarial documents since the past centuries, from which it appears that they were of noble condition. Filippo Maria, a lawyer from Luigi, a Florentine citizen, exercised criminal and civil judgments in the city of San Sepolcro in the years 1760 and 1761; and his son Lorenzo the lawyer, he was royal vicar from 18021 to 1805. As proof of his gratitude, the Magistracy of 6 May 1819, proposed the registration of the aforementioned lawyer Filippo, and his sons, to the noble class of that city , lawyer Lorenzo and Pompeo, curator of the Pisa Mortgages.
