Nei tempi del Re Cattolico Ferdinando venne nel nostro Regno il Dottor Diego, in Italia chiamato Giacomo , d'antichissima, e nobil famiglia della Città di Siviglia nella Spagna; il che si rende chiaro, dal vedersi, che non potendosi ciascuno ammettere a far il corso de' suoi studi nel Collegio della Nation Spagnola, eretto con questa legge dal Cardinal Albornoz nella Città di Bologna, fe rigorosametne non fà primieramente le prove dell'antica sua nobiltà, per parte di padre, e di madre, a similitudine di colui, che agli ordini militari vuol essere ammesso. D.Giacomo in quel Collegio fù aggregato, ove compì il corso de' suoi studi legali, e ricevè il grado del dottorato; havendo primieramente fatto in Seviglia sua patria nel 1496 le prove della sua nobiltà, così per parte di Don Alvaro Bernal suo padre, figliuolo del Licentiato D.Giovanni, e di D.Maria Gonzales, come per parte di sua madre Violante ,
