La famiglia discende dallo stipite Gregorio, di Gio. Antonio, già defuto nel 1597, dal quale discende quella che ottenne il riconoscimento della nobiltà nel 1926. Essa infatti discende da Gio. Giacomo, figlio del detto Gregorio, mentre l'altra discende da suo fratello Gio. Antonio. Gio. Giacomo nel 1597 e nell'anno seguente abitava in Chiuro col fratello, pur non essendo ancora stato ammesso nella vicinanza di quel luogo. Egli portava il cognome "de Quadrio de Maria de pontaschellis", riassunto da taluni dei suoi discendenti. Da Gio. Giacomo nacque verso il 1604 Alessandro, che sposò in prime nozze una Paola e in seconde una Caterina. Dalla prima ebbe il figlio Giacomo Antonio, nato a Chiuro il 7 luglio 1633. Questi ebbe in moglie Lucrezia Quadrio, figlia di Curzio di Ponte, che gli diede il figlio Curzio, nato a Chiuro il 18 novembre 1679. Curzio, che fu dottore fisico, ebbe in moglie Sidonia Neuroni,
