Antica ed illustre famiglia, che può vantare, come capostipite quel Guido, nipote dell'Imperatore Ottone I, che discese di Germania in Italia nell'anno del Signore 948, e che fu creato, per le sue valorose gesta Conte di Modigliana, e di Romagna. Dai suoi discendenti, dunque, germogliarono molti gloriosi rami della famiglia Quido, in territorio romagnolo, dilatandosi poi nella Lombardia, e particolarmente nella Toscana. Principale ramo di questa illustre Casa è stata quella dei Quido di Bagno, alla quale appartennero due Cardinali: Francesco l'uno, e Nicolò l'altro, il primo morto nel 1641, e il secondo nel 1663. Di detta Famiglia de se ne vede un Ramoscello piantato nella Città di Napoli, da Pietro de' Conti Quido, il quale essendo secondogenito di sua casa, e valorosissimo, militò al servizio della Regina Giovanna II, dalla quale nell'anno 1432, ebbe in remunerazione trenta once d'oro annuali, per lui e per il figlio Giovanni de'
