Au moment de l'arrivée d'Attila, cette famille jouissait à Padoue d'un rang distinct entre ces nobles, et un général Q. défenseur de cette ville, ayant dû céder au violent choc de ce conquérant, passa dans les lagunes vénitiennes. Là, il compte ses individus parmi les premiers tribuns. Il donna plus tard à la nouvelle patrie trois doges en 764, 778 et 830, trois cardinaux, quatre patriarches, parmi lesquels François mourut dans le concept de sainteté, et dix procureurs de Saint-Marc. Francesco Q. a gouverné l'île de Candie et, en récompense de ses éminents services, le sénat a accordé à tous ses descendants premiers-nés, par héritage, l'insigne de l'étole d'or. Les Q. ont été confirmés dans la noblesse ancestrale avec la résolution souveraine 1 et 16 déc. et 28 déc. 1818.
