Cette famille, originaire de la Saintonge puis fixée en Guienne, possédait des fiefs dans la sénéchaussée de Bergerac, et en cette qualité plusieurs de ses membres figurent sur les rôles des privilégiés et de la capitation de l'élection de Sarlat. Alexandre Rabar, baron de la Beauze, conseiller au Parlement de Bordeaux, épousa en 1661 Anne de Gast de Beaulieu, fille de M. de Gast, bailli de Bergerac et lieutenant général des autres bastilles du Périgord. Cette famille s'est distinguée autant par l'épée que par la robe, car nous voyons Jacques de Rabar, enseigne au régiment de Montpauzier, tué en 1641 au siège d'Aire; Jacques, son frère, capitaine au régiment de Montpouillan, tué à Lérida; Gaston, troisième frère, tué en 1648 au siège de Tortosa; Pierre-César, baron de Beaumale, chevalier de Saint-Louis, émigra; sa petite-fille, mariée à M. de Sauvagnac, apporta dans cette famille le titre de marquis, qui a été
