Antica ed assai nobile famiglia portoghese, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come Rabelo, Rabello o Abello, un cui ramo passò a risiedere in Spagna in tempi molto antichi da donde poi, agli albori del XV secolo, si insediò nobilmente in terra di Sardegna. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato suo capostipite fu un Vasco Afonso, di Afonso Martins, fiorito in Portogallo al tempo del Re D. Sancho I. Un Cristóvão Rabello, di Oporto, fu il fedele assistente di Ferdinando Magellano e con lui si imbarcò a bordo del "Crinidad", nel settembre 1519, assistendo così alla scoperta delle Filippine. Quando raggiunse queste isole, egli era il capitano della "Vitória". D. Rodrigo Rabello Falcão, nato nella città di Lagos, fu padre di Antônio Rabello Falcão, cavaliere dell'Ordine di Calabravan, in cui è entrato il primo luglio 1645. Juan Francisco Rabello, illustre conquistatore delle Canarie, fu confermato nella sua avita nobiltà nel 1644.
