Famiglia patrizia, à dato alla patria diversi uomini preclari. Bartolino, delegato del Senato di Ravenna in Rimini nel 1252; Girolamo capitano nell'esercito del Duca d'Urbino contro i Veneziani nel 1509, poi questore pontificio e membro del magistrato di giustizia; Antonio ambasciatore a Roma per gl'interessi della patria nel 1540; Paolo abate benedettino in San Vitale assai dotto nelle matematiche e in astronomia, morto nel 1671; Vitale abate dei monasteri dei Canonici Lateranensi in Treviso e in Gubbio nel 1687. Di questa famiglia non si ebbero più notizie dal XVIII secolo. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii paterni, e de' maggiori.
