Nel XIII secolo era tra le famiglie cospicue di Bologna, annoverata però tra le popolane di parte lambertazza. I Radici presero parte alla crociata del 1217, e nella mischia che si accese nel 1260 fra varie famiglie si azzuffarono con i Prendiparte. L'anno appresso fu condannato a morte Erminio Radici, e ne furono confiscati i beni perchè, nonstante la pace giurata, ferì mortalmente Azzolino Prendiparte. Questa famiglia à dato alla patria sette anziani e molti cavalieri gaudenti e canonoici del Duomo, à posseduto due torri in Bologna e se ne perdono le tracce sul finire del XIV secolo. Altro ramo. Famiglia nobile, originaria di Bologna, dovette emigrare dalla madre patria per aver aderito alla parte guelfa, sostenuta dai Geremei, e si trapiantò in Ravenna nel 1270.
