E' opinione acreditata degli storici he l'attuale famiglia Raineri Biscia discenda dagli antichi conti di Bleda di Romagna piuttosto che di Bieda nel Viterbese. Distrutto il loro castello, posto nella valle Acerata quando, nelle lotte delle fazioni, monacciava di cadere nelle mani dei nemici, la famiglia dei conti di Bleda, partigiana degli Ordelaffi, fu condotta a Salto da un Crescenzio, marito di Stefania, da cui derivò quel Rainero, che dette il nome alla famiglia. Dei Raineri fu Gualfrido, gonfaloniere della Chiesa e capitano di tutte le milizie pontificie. Rainerio, noto nel castello di Bleda, eletto papa nel 1099 col nome di Pasquale II, e morto nel 1118, per primo approvò gli Statuti dei cavalieri gerosolimitani; durante il suo potificato, assistito dal popolo, lottò costantemente contro gli imperatori Enrico IV ed Enrico V per le guerre delle investiture.
