Antica famiglia presente in Tortona sin dal secolo XI. Facino fu eletto alla suprema magistratura consolare per la prima volta nel 1113 e nuovamente nel 1133, anno in cui le comunità degli argentieri, mercanti e fabbri ferrai furono richiamate all'osservanza delle leggi statuite dai loro Collegi (Uomini Illustri, 85; Annali I, 143, 151); nel 1214 un A. era monaco nell'abazia di S. Stefano di T. (Goggi, St. della Dioc. di T., I, 199); nel sec. XIV il notaio Allegrus di Pietro Giovanni esercitava a Porta S. Stefano (Matr. dei notai che rogar. nel Tortonese dal XIV al XVIII sec.). Diffusisi nei territori limitrofi li troviamo a Gamondio, ove un Alegrus sottoscrive, nel marzo 1146, il documento col quale i consoli genovesi esimono la comunità gamondiese dal pagamento dei pedaggi di Voltaggio ottenendone giuramento di fedeltà (Doc. genov. di Novi e Valle Scrivia, I,43) ed a Genova nel 1248 anno in
