Esta familia se origina en Graglia-Santuario (Biella), y los primeros recuerdos se remontan a un mensajero Jacomino, que vivió a fines del siglo XV, y que fue el padre de Pietro, Giovanni y Lodovico. Por la documentación que se guarda con esta familia, se recuerda a un noble Francesco, nombrado Receptor de Cámara del Duque Carlos II de Saboya en 1542 en Nizza Marittima; y un noble Giovanni, quien fue secretario del duque Carlo Emanuele II y posteriormente de la regente de la duquesa Giovanna Battista. Obtuvo esta última licencia para confirmar el arma el 2 de agosto de 1678, que entregó el 20 de junio de 1687. A fines del siglo XVII, la familia, en la persona del ingeniero arquitecto Carlo Francesco, transfirió su residencia a Ivrea.
