Antiga família de Verona, que tinha jurisdição sobre o Lessini. Listado entre os principais da cidade desde o século XII. Acredita-se que seja de origem Lombard. Em 1279, ele já estava entre os mais eminentes e, desde então, dera um podestà a Vicenza. Morrendo em 1361, ele teve sua esposa Beatrice della Scala. A família está no topo do município desde 1409 e não estava entre os integrantes da formação do Conselho, mas foi acrescentada em 1421. Tinha o Palatinado da Santa Sé em 1640, e o ramo atual tinha o título de conde de Ranuccio Farnese com diploma 11 de novembro de 1681. A família está registrada na Lista Nobre Oficial Italiana, com os títulos de nobre de Verona (masculino e feminino) e conde (masculino), na pessoa de Vittoria, Giulio, Alessandro, viúva do nobre Costantino Ovio.
