Incerta è l'oigine dei Rampina che alcuni autori fanno discendere da un Guido Rampino di Milano, uno dei quattro testi presenti alla stesura di decreti relativi a creditori e debitori promugati nel 1262 dal comune milanese e che nel 1270, come sindaco del podestà del comune stesso, stipulava un mutuo di 1500 lire con il monastero di Chiaravalle per soddisfare le milizie del marchese di Monferrato. Atra versione invece, da noi condivisa pur non conoscenone la provenienza, è che i Rampina presenti tanto in Tortona, come vedremo, sin dal XII secolo, quanto in Voghera ove il Cavagna Sangiuliani nel suo "Agro Vogherese" li annovera tra le famiglie più antiche viventi nei secoli XII-XIV nonché in Alessandria, siano essi stessi i progenitori delle diramazioni milanesi; per ora opiniamo che l'omonimia sia solo fortuita coincidenza.
