Provengono da Pinerolo e pare che, in antico, si dicessero d'Agosta o De Augusta. Commerciavano e furono ascritti all'arte della lana; poi tennero banco in Torino, dove edificarono una cappella patronata in S. Antonio. Le prime memorie datano dal secolo XVI e già il 1 aprile 1605 Giacomo e Domenico, fratelli, ottenevano concessione d'arma. Giacomo procreò Bartolomeo (nato a Pinerolo, S. Donato il 12 ottobre 1606), che, venuto in Torino e acquistatovi grandi ricchezze col traffico e con gli appalti, comprò dal marchese Ercole Estense Tassoni il feudo di Salasco e ne fu investito con titolo comitale il 3 settembre 1661. Un ventennio prima, nel 1642, aveva sposato Maria Lucrezia, figlia del celebre primo presidente Gianfrancesco Bellezia. Appartiene alla sua discendenza diretta il conte Carlo Felice (nato a Torino il 13 settembre 1796 e dec. a Vercelli il 17 gennio 1866), che fu tenente generale, capo di stato maggiore
