Marco cavaliere e patrizio romano militò sotto l'Imperat. Ottone, e nel 999 fu eletto capitano e sovrintendente in Lombardia. Bonincontro nel 1096 si portò con Ugone in Terra-Santa, ed in premio del suo valore fu da Pasquale II investito delle decime di Fontanetto, Palazzolo, Cisale, Campagnuola e S. Gennario. Il B. Amedeo Duca di Savoja con patenti del 1469 concesse a questa famiglia il privilegio di prendere da ogni soma di limoni o di aranci che entrasse in Vercelli sei di essi frutti per ricompensare i servizi che aveva reso allo stato Mercurio Ranzo, il quale nel 1457 era stato presed. del Consiglio di Savoja, poi ambasciatore al pontefice Nicolò V, e nel 1458 presid. del Consiglio cismontano. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata.
