Alte und adelige sizilianische Familie, bekannt seit dem 16. Jahrhundert, genannt Rapisarda oder Rapisardi, von klarer und angestammter Tugend, die sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte weltweit verbreitet hat. Ein Giuseppe, Sohn von Matteo, aus Santa Lucia (Mascalucia, Catania), erhielt mit dem königlichen Privileg vom 26. März 1776 die Konzession des Titels eines Barons von Sant'Antonio; Giuseppe, Benedetto und Salvatore, Ärzte, wurden 1812-13 in Santa Lucia (Mascalucia, Catania) vereidigt. Mit dem Ministerialdekret vom 7. Juni 1900 erhielt Matteo die Anerkennung des Titels Baron von Sant'Antonio. Der bereits erwähnte Matteo hatte 1868 Maria Auteri geheiratet und war der Vater von Gaspare, geboren 1869 in Mascalucia, Ehemann (22. Oktober 1898) von Caterina Carnazza und Vater von Matteo Giuseppe, geboren am 19. August 1899 in Catania. Andere berühmte Exponenten aus der Familie: Michele Rapisardi (Catania, 1822 - Florenz, 1886), Maler und Vertreter der Romantik; Mario Rapisardi (Catania, 25. Februar 1844 - 4. Januar 1912),
