Apellido de origen portugués. Fue su tronco Vasco Afonso, hijo de Afonso Martins, contemporáneo de los Reyes Don Sancho I y Don Alfonso II. Vasco Afonso y Doña María Anes, fueron padres de Rui Vasques Rebelo, primero que tomó este apellido, por ser Señor de Casa Rebelo. Don Esteban R., natural de Lagos y Caballero de la Orden de Cristo, contrajo matrimonio en Lisboa con Doña María Correa, de la que tuvo a: Don Rodrigo R. Falcón, nacido en Lagos, que casó con Doña María de Sosa y Alméida, natural de Lisboa. Su hijo Antonio R. Falcón, natural de Lagos, fue Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, en la que ingresó el 7 de enero de 1645. La rama de Canarias, por devoción a Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, antepuso este nombre al primitivo, apellidándose Neves-R. Esta rama desciende del ilustre conquistador de la isla de Tenerife, Don Juan Francisco
