Trae le sue origini questa famiglia da San Maurizio Canavese e le prime sicure memorie ricordano un Gio. Francesco che fu attuaro nel Senato di Piemonte e che ottenne la conferma dell'arma gentilizia nel 1643. Ad un Giovanni Michele, n. 1723 , probabile figlio del notaio Filiberto, che fu comandante del C.R. d'artiglieria e direttore della scuola d'artiglieria venne concesso il feudo di Vallo il 24 giugno 1788 col titolo signorile, ma non potè ottenerne l'investitura essendo morto nel frattempo. A suo figlio Claudio, n. a Torino 21 gennaio 1765, che fu R. cappellano, venne concesso il 27 maggio 1837 il predicato di Vallo. Fu suo fratello Giuseppe, n. a Torino 22 luglio 1767, il quale fece le campagne dell'esercito sardo del 1792 fino al 1796 e coll'armata austriaca del 1800-9. Venne creato il 6 marzo 1809, con diploma imperiale austriaco, barone di Perestdorf, e dal re di Sardegna barone
