Apellido de origen italiano, establecido en Andalucía, de donde pasó a Canarias. Don Felipe R. y R., fue Cónsul de Su Majestad el rey de Italia en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Oficial de la Orden de San Mauricio y San Lázaro y Caballero de la del Cristo de Portugal; nació en Cádiz el año 1789 y murió en Santa Cruz el 5 de marzo de 1878. Había contraído matrimonio en la iglesia de la Concepción de La Laguna, con Doña María Lorenza de la Concepción de Castro y Madan Soria-Pimentel y Lenard, nacida en dicha ciudad el 15 de agosto de 1802. El enlace se celebró el día 7 de abril de 1824 y de él nacieron siete hijos: José María Manuel Juan, Juan Manuel Felipe, Felipe Guillermo Saturnino, Pedro Cristóbal Emilio, Emilia Manuela Vicenta María de las Nieves, María Magdalena Luisa Mariana Felipe Catalina y Manuela Eustaquia María de la Concepción R. y de Castro; nacida ésta en Santa Cruz de Tenerife el 3 de noviembre de 1834. Los anteriores hermanos habían nacido todos en La Laguna.
