Antigua familia de Macerata, pero originaria de Fiesole, de donde fue expulsada en el siglo XVI por las luchas entre Guelphs y Ghibellines. Después de mudarse a Marche, colocó su habitación en Macerata, donde sus miembros tomaron los primeros honores. También tenía un magnífico palacio en Roma en la Piazza Navona.
