Antica e nobile famiglia del Regno di Sicilia con insediamenti cospicui in Palermo e Napoli. La famiglia Reggio alzò per arme: D'azzurro, alla fascia d'oro, sormontata nel capo da una cometa d'argento, ed accompagnata da tre stelle dello stesso. Alias. D'azzurro, alla lascia d'oro, accompagnata da quattro stelle dello stesso, poste tre nel capo ed una nella punta. Le memorie più antiche di questa illustre famiglia rimontano al 1310. — Essa à goduto nobiltà in Napoli ed in Sicilia, dove essendo numerosa si divise in vari rami che prese.ro stanza in Palermo, Randazzo e Messina, ed in quest'ultima città fu ascritta alla Mastra nobile nel 807. Ha posseduto 26 feudi, il marchesato di Ginestra, i ducati di Valvcrde e di Vatticani, ed i principati di Aci S. Antonio, Campofiorito, Campofranco, e Catena, ed à vestito l'abito di Malta nel 1582.
