Antiga família piemontesa, originária de Savigliano, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. Carlo-Alberto, rei da Sardenha, com cartas de licença 27 de junho 1835, conferiu a Giovanni Regis, colateral da R. Camera de 'conti o título e a dignidade do conde, transmissíveis aos seus descendentes do sexo masculino na linha do primogênito; Vittorio-Emanuele II, rei da Sardenha, criou-o senador do reino. Mesmo Gaspare-Domenico Regis, não sabemos se o irmão ou sobrinho do anterior, coronel comandando o segundo regimento da brigada de Acqui, obteve do mesmo rei Charles-Alberto o título da cidade, com as cartas de licença de 15 de dezembro de 1838. A essa família, além disso , pertencia a San Giovanni Francesco Regis, nascido em Font-Couverte, em 31 de janeiro de 1597. Ainda menino, imediatamente demonstrou grande amor pelo estudo e pela religião, por isso foi apresentado ao colégio jesuíta de Bezieres. Depois
