El Dr. R. desciende, por rigurosa agnación, de Don Ignacio P. y Doña María de Brito, que vivieron casados en Garafía, isla de La Palma, en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI. Son sus armas: En campo de gules, una cruz de oro, cantonada de cuatro flores de lis del mismo metal, sobre ondas de mar de plata y azur; bordura de oro, cargada de ocho aspas de gules. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia
