Milanese family, formerly called de 'Regni. It was entered in the catalog of Orders in 1277 and obtained from the emperor Charles IV the title and dignity of Count Palatine with Diploma given in Rottemburgo on August 9, 1358. In 1388 a William was decurion of the Parish of S. Pietro alla Vigna in Milan; a Gavazzo in 1404 was captain of Porta Vercellina and helped the Guelphs to return to the city with a false ducal order; a Francesco in 1412 was banished by Filippo Maria Visconti on suspicion of complicity in the killing of the previous duke; a Giovanni Azzo in 1499 was a collegiate doctor; Lancellotto in 1518 was among the first decurions instituted in Milan by the French government; In 1519 Azzone was vicar of Provvisione; Gottardo was first vicar of Provvisione in 1563 and then elected senator and Magnificent Rector of the University of Pavia;
