Familia antigua y de marcada nobleza de los Países Bajos, con el nombre de Remes o Remees, quienes habitaron por primera vez en Groninga, ciudad del norte de Holanda y capital de la provincia que lleva el mismo nombre, y que luego, a lo largo del siglo, se propagaron por diversas regiones europeas, principalmente en territorio español y francés.
