Antica e virtuosa famiglia, la quale fu innalzata agli onori del Patriziato di Pavia, con deliberazione degli abati e dei decurioni di quella città, in data 2 settembre 1791. In considerazione dei particolari meriti e zelanti servizi che aveva reso alla stessa città e alla provincia il R. Consultore don Carlo Renaro, prima nella sua qualità di sindaco generale di Milano e poi in quella di assessore presso la Congregazione dello Stato, fu fregiato dall'imperatore Leopoldo della onorifica carica di consultore della Giunta d'Italia in Vienna. Don Giovanni, figlio del detto Carlo, ottenne con Sovrana Risoluzione 21 agosto 1819 la nobilitazione austriaca, che fu mutata in riconoscimento con altra Sovrana Risoluzione 29 giugno 1826. Dal predetto Giovanni, il quale sposò con donna Giovanna Zichy, nacque a Guntramsdorf nella Bassa Austria, il 30 settembre 1827, Lodovico. Questi, il 30 settembre 1854, nella parrocchia di S.
