A família, com distinção honrosa, através do tempo, no judiciário, nas armas e nas artes, descende daquele Luchino Ravelli, de Busca, que floresceu esplendidamente entre os séculos XVI e XVII, a serviço da Casa Augusta de Savoy, que ele possuía do duque. Carlo Emanuele I, em 3 de julho de 1600, no posto de procurador geral tributário. Daí nasceu Alessandro, doutor em direito e propriedade geral, que se casou com Eleonora Ceaglio, cuja família, em 1740, fundou um comando maurício. De Giorgio, que, tendo se mudado para os vales de Lanzo, casou-se com Anna Maria Barra em 1677 e morreu em 1729, a genealogia é rigorosamente comprovada até os dias atuais. Filippo Antonio, Giovanni Giacomo, Giorgio foi professor na Universidade de Turim de 1750 a 1776.
