Quintilien était un marchand civil très riche, célèbre pour le trafic intense et pour les nombreuses capitales existant à Venise, où il vivait depuis 1640, comme à Gênes, achetée par son père Carlo à Côme. Connu sous le nom de Quintilien pour avoir donné au public cent mille ducats dans les premières nécessités de la guerre de Morée, il obtint la noblesse vénitienne, qui lui fut conférée par le Sénat et par le Maggior Consiglio, le 17 avril 1687. Carlo, fils du comte Giambattista della Torre, en 1758 fut élu pape sous le nom de Clément XIII. Son neveu, Aurelio, était procureur de S. Marco, et ses fils Carlo et Giovanni étaient cardinaux de SR Chiesa, et Abbondio, prince assistant du trône papal et sénateur de Rome. Avec ce dernier il n'y avait plus de nouvelles certaines de la famille. Autre branche. Noble famille détachée de la lignée de della Torre di Rezzonico, attribuée au décurionat de la ville de Côme en 1758 en la personne de Gio Battista, di Aurelio. Il obtint la confirmation de sa noblesse, avec la Résolution Souveraine du 28 janvier 1817, en la personne de Domenico, fils de Gio Battista.
