Ugo, figlio di Alberto, di Ranieri, di Berengario e fratello di quel Ranieri, da cui discese il ramo dei Firidolfi, fu il capostipite di questa linea, e nella divisione del'avito retaggio aveva avute in sorte le signorie di Brolio, Cacchiano, Vertine ed altri luoghi del Chianti. Albertaccio, suo figlio, combattè coi guelfi a Montapeti, e poi sempre contro i Senesi, finchè nel 1280 sottoscrisse la pace del Cardinal Latino coi ghibellini. Anche Bindaccio, nato da lui, seguì le insegne dei guelfi e del papa, che nel 1335 lo creò capitano generale per la guerra contro Francesco Ordelaffi. Nel 1354 l'Albornoz lo nominò suo vicario generale in Orvieto. Nel 1329 aveva comprato dai Pazzi di Valdarno la signoria della Trappola, cui unì anche quella di Rocca Guicciarda, di Sagona, di Lanciolina e del Poggio di San Clemente, oltre i domini ereditati nel Chianti.
