La famiglia comincia ad apparire con un Tommaso, che testò con atto Raina Lazzaro del 18 aprile 1576. Ascanio Onorio e Giovanni Sforza, del precedente, appaiono ambedue notai nella Matricola Piacentina. Tommaso Rizzi fu creato nobile assieme ai discendenti maschi e femmine da Ranunzio Farnese con patenti del 2 marzo 1688 con aggregazione alla classe Scotti. Questi aggiunse primo al proprio cognome quello di Oddi, poichè lo zio materno don Angelo Maria Oddi, con testamento ricevuto dal notaio Luigi Garioni del 20 settembre 1695, istituiva una primogenitura, sostituibile dai secondogeniti e terzogeniti, in esso Tommaso, alla condizione che la famiglia del nipote assumesse anche il suo nome. Si notano poi un Dario, che rimasto vedovo vestì l'abito clericale; un Giuseppe, di lui nipote, canonico della basilica di S.Antonio in patria; un don Pietro, congiunto delle nobili famiglie dei conti Nasalli Rocca di Corneliano e dei marchesi Casali.
