Ancient family, originally from Naples, passed to Sicily in 1300 under Frederick II of Aragon. Sergio in 1321 obtained from this king the faculty to fortify the castle of Trapani. From him descend various characters who spread in Palermo, Messina, Catania and Trapani. A Thomas settled in Palermo in 1392, was treasurer of the kingdom in 1398 and senator in 1401. His branch died out in 1521. In Messina another branch was established by a Giovanni, who obtained the barony of Comiso from King Martino other assets. From him came the barons of Ribino and S. Giacomo, and those of Miri. A Pietro transplanted his family to Catania, and obtained the title of royal family from Queen Maria in 1388. In Trapani the family was brought by another Giovanni from which descended a Issa royal knight, baron of the wheat and other fiefdoms, a Geronimo created royal knight by Emperor
