This family also known as Riitano, Regitano and Retano is originally from the city of Vittoria in Biscay. It passed to Sicily in the XIV century where it built the land of Reytano and was ascribed to the patrician of Plermo and to that of Messina, from which city a branch passed in Reggio di Calabria. He dressed the dress of Malta in 1643. The noble branch of Palermo died out in 1844 in the Duke Giuseppe Reytano and his brother Francesco who died without leaving descendants. They had only one sister, Marianna, who was married in the Marchesi di Parcoreale column. See Monuments in Messina in the Church of Jesus and Mary. The Reytani family owned the fiefdoms of Acireale, Donnamaria, Moriella and Quintopantano; the Marquisates of Camporotondo in 1668 and Gallidoro in 1632; the Duchy of Reytano and the Principality of S.
