Nel 1781 il conte Giovanfrancesco de'Rilli Orsini, patrizio fiorentino, chiese di essere reintegrato nella nobiltà romana, ottenuta dai suoi maggiori nel 1578 e l'ebbe con Senatus Consulto del 28 settembre 1781. Ciò prova che i diplomi anteriori alla Bolla Benedettina erano validi e coloro che per qualche motivo non furono inscritti nell'albo dei nobili nel 1745, potevano sempre far valere i loro diritti, che in materia di nobiltà sono imprescrittibili. La famiglia de' Rilli, antica in Toscana, dimorò lungamente nel castello di Poppi. Altra linea che possedeva beni a Staglia in Toscana, passò a Roma in persona di Lorenzo, detto Staglia, figlio di Nicolò di Fede de' Rilli. Nel 1517 Bernardo e Raffale de' Rilli, si stabilirono a Roma. Raffaele sposò Maddalena Grifoni, nobile romana, sorella di Mons. Matteo vescovo di Trivento, che possedeva in Roma il palazzo, ora di Buoncompagni, al Corso, di fronte alla chiesa di S. Marcello.
