Famiglia oriunda da Vercelli, che taluni genealogisti vorrebbero riallacciare ad Ascanio II duca di Spoleto. Le memorie sicure si iniziano con un notaio Agostino (1543- c. 1613), di Antonio, il quale era cittadino di Torino, e fu nobilitato con concessione d'arma il 15 maggio 1593. Fu costui segretario della Religione dei SS. Maurizio e Lazzaro (1573), segretario della Religione dei SS. Maurizio e Lazzaro (1573), segretario di S.A. e delle finanze di qua dai monti (1588) e segretario dell'Ordine della SS. Annunziata. Acquistò il 7 maggio 1594 il castello e la giurisdizione di Giaglione (Meana, Alteretto e Losa) dal vassallo Emanuele Filiberto Aschieri alias Roma, di cui ottenne il R. Assenso e l'erezione in contea il 18 maggio 1594. Sposò (1582) Delia Marcoaldo e furono, fra gli altri, suoi figli Filippo Carlo e Carlo Antonio. Quest'ultimo il quale morì il 20 settembre 1641
