Antiga e muito nobre família toscana de Pisa chamada Ripafratta ou de Ripafratta se espalhou, ao longo dos séculos, por diferentes regiões da Itália. A origem deste antigo sobrenome deriva da localidade homônima no território pisano, provavelmente o local de origem do progenitor. Os autores da nobreza florentina, incluindo Ademollo Andrea e Marietta de 'Ricci, que em seu trabalho nos transmitiram em 1845 "Florença na época do cerco. Relato histórico com notas genealógicas sobre famílias florentinas, correções e adições, por Cavalier Luigi Passerini”, impresso em Florença, Chiari em 1845, garantem que esta família vem das terras de Pisa. Esta família, como relata Gamurrini na História Genealógica das Famílias Nobres da Toscana e Umbro, impressa em Florença por Sanesi em 1641 no volume 6, tem suas origens já no século XIV.
