Famiglia di Chivasso, di chiara ed antica virtù, il cui capostipite fu un Giulio, vivente sul calar del '200. Franceschino, di Giovannino, fu investito di Vignale (Casale) il 2 ottobre 1432 e il 9 novembre 1434. Gaspare, Defendente (morto 1764), di Giuseppe Alessandro, permutò col conte Domenico Ignazio Bonaudo il 3 luglio 1734 il feudo di Monteu con quello di Borghetto (assenso 31 maggio) e ne fu investito col titolo baronale il 9 ottobre. Il nipote di costui Gaspare (morto Torino, 12 novembre 1835), di Giuseppe, ebbe per figli Carlo e Bernardino. Dal secondo si originò la linea Dell'Isola Mollo, così denominata per l'assunzione di questo casato da Gioacchino, di Bernardino, mediante Regio Decreto del 1851. Carlo (nato Torino, 29 giugno 1819; morto a Venaria Reale, 21 settembre 1890), fece le campagne del '48 e '49 come tenente. E' suo figlio Claudio (nato Susa, 24 maggio 1876) che fu riconosciuto
