Antica ed assai nobile famiglia bresciana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Conosciuta come Rizzardi o Ricciardi, essa risulta presente in Brescia sin dal XIV secolo. Nel 1382 infatti un Rizzardo da Brescia è registrato fra i soldati forestieri che si trovano in Istria. Negli estimi di Asola sono registrati: Rizzardus de Rizzardis (1400, 1416, 1430, 1438), Cristoforo (1451, 1495, 1502, 1511), Giovanni Maria, del fu Antonio (1548). Un Antonio Rizzardi era il 6 ottobre 1426 tra i firmatari del patto di unione con Venezia giurato nel Duomo di Brescia alla presenza del Carmagnola. Nel 1568 Antonio Rizardus, professore di grammatica, figura quale parte del Consiglio Maggiore di Brescia ed iscritto nel Libro d'oro della nobiltà.
