Les Rizzini étaient de riches propriétaires terriens, inféodés par l'évêque de Brescia. Leurs possessions s'étendaient sur une grande partie du territoire de Brescia et Mantoue. Pour Mantoue, la famille Rizzini était une nouvelle famille, originaire de Solférino et de Castelgoffredo, où ils se sont enrichis en tant que douaniers. Girolamo a utilisé beaucoup de richesses, accumulées par lui, pour l'achat de terres et de biens, au lieu appelé Guidizzolo, et à la maison à Mantoue par les comtes Custoza, où il s'est installé. Il aménagea alors son propre sépulcre au sein de l'église de San Gervasio sur lequel il voulut écrire : "Hieronimus Riccinis pro se et heredibus novissima memorans, hisce in tenebris stravit lectulum suum donec excitatur a Domino.
