Antichissima famiglia oriunda di S.Damiano d'Asti. Si ricorda un Biagio, che nel 1381 fu deputato di S. Damiano per la prestazione di omaggio al marchese di Monferrato; Biagio era, tra l'altro, figlio di Gio. Battista, che fu consigliere di S. Damiano e nel 1570 pretore d'Incisa. Giacomo acquistò nel 1576, dai Tortonesi porzioni di Carpeneto e ne fu investito il 21 agosto 1578. Roberto, di Bartolomeo, fu capitano dei cavalleggeri del duca di Mantova. Suo figlio, chiamato anch'esso Gio. Battista, fu dottore di leggi, residente del duca di Mantova a Vienna, alla Dieta di Ratisbona, senatore e sotto governatore di Acqui. Da costui nacque Francesco Maria, che fu generale comandante delle milizie di Acqui. Acquistò dai Bulgarino il feudo di Castelvetro, di cui fu investito col titolo comitale il 2 maggio 1680.
