Bocaci ovvero Boccacci d'Orso sono antichi Romani. Mariano Boccaccio, come riferisce l'Infessura, fu uno delli Guardiani del Conclave di Sisto IV con Antonio Vescovo Agnense, et osservarono il prodigio che appariva in Cielo quando li Cardinale entrarono in Conclave. Questa famiglia si chiamò già de Ursis, come apparisce dal Catasto de Salvatore sotto l'anno 1447. Antonius Romanelli, Joannes Ursi alias Boccaccij. Nel 142 Antonio Boccacci fu Guardiano della Compagnia e del 1447 et 1470 si trova nel medesimo Catasto, memoria di Sabba Bocaccio, Maria Boccaccia e di Prospero Boccacci. Il cognome d'Orsi e la riserga attorno l'arme, denota nobiltà antica maggiore del tempo espresso. Del 1495 Guardiani del Salvatore furono: Prospero Bocaccio e Giacomo Serlupi. Camerlengo Gio. Angelo de Buccabella. L'arma de' Boccacci è una testa d'orso (onde anche erano chiamati Orsi come si è detto) co la lingua furono in campo d'oro, ha la risega in campo azzurro.
