Antigua familia de Apulia, con residencia en Gallipoli, originaria de España. El progenitor de la familia se encuentra en un Sancho Rock, Castellano di Gallipoli, cuando este capituló con el Gran Capitán Consalvo. Se dice que el apellido exacto de la familia era Cerasoli y que Sancho, que tenía el pelo rubio y rojo, fue apodado rocos, que es rojo, y luego Roccio, de ahí el apellido actual de Rocci Cerasoli.
