Ramo della famiglia Della Porta di Como, antichissima, nobile e decurionata di quella città, e della stessa stirpe dei Della Porta di Piacenza, staccatosi nel XVI sec. quando un monsignor Bruto, prosigillatore della S. Penitenzieria Apostolica, si stabilì in Roma ed ebbe palazzo presso i SS. Apostoli. Era questi figlio del conte Francesco Maria e dell'ultima Quintili, patrizia romana, per cui ebbe l'eredità del palazzo Quintili presso Monte Citorio, poi venduto ai De' Cinque. Ma già fin dal 1527 Melchiorre della Porta, di Como, suo congiunto, erasi portato a Roma e sposato con Bartolomea Marganti, patrizia romana e nel 1569 era stato ascritto egli pure, con tutta la famiglia, al patriziato romano. Melchiorre fondò un fidecomisso nel 1588. Girolamo. suo figlio, fu priore dei Caporioni e nel 1623 sposò Ersilia di Orazio Altieri e nipote del pont. Clemente X. Un altro figlio di Melchiorre, Marcantonio, fu conservatore nel 1615-1622,
