No século XIII, Raffaele, com privilégio obtido no município de Gênova, começou a cultivar cana em Diano. Giacomo foi um bispo altíssimo de Sagona no século XV, e depois dele a família foi investida em feudo pela cantina episcopal de Albenga com os bens e comendações de S. Siro. Outro indivíduo desta família, jurisconsulto de renome, ganhou muita fama na famosa conspiração de Giulio-Cesare Vacchero em 1625. Poucas são as cidades, que possuem famílias nobres tão velhas quanto as de Gênova, porque apesar dos acontecimentos da época ainda conta dentro dela, muitas famílias que provam sua genealogia de pai para filho através de atos notariais de meados do século XII até os dias atuais, ou seja, de uma época que serviu de barreira para quase todas as famílias na Europa. Mas se nos faltam os feitos anteriores aos de Giovanni Scriba do ano 1150 e de Lanfranco Lotaro de 1180,

Blasone delle famiglia Rodino idi Diano-Castello (Liguria). Fonte bibliografica: "Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane estinte e fiorenti" vol.II, compilato dal Comm. G.B. di Crollalanza, edito presso la direzione del giornale araldico, Pisa 1888. Note: Nel XIII secolo, Raffaele Rodino, con privilegio ottenuto dal Comune di Genova, prese a coltivare in Diano la canna di zucchero. Giacomo Rodino Cu dottissimo Vescovo di Savona nel XV secolo, e dopo lui la famiglia venne investita in feudo dalla mensa episcopale di Albenga dei beni e della commenda di S. Siro. Un altro individuo di questa famiglia, reputatissimo giureconsulto, si acquistò molta fama nella celebre congiura di Giulio-Cesare Vacchero nel 1625
