Ursprünglich aus Ravello, wo es Nachrichten über den fränkischen Soldaten gibt, der 944 das älteste Benediktinerkloster gründete, und über einen Konstantin, Bischof von Ravello (1094-1150), und über Sergio, der 1130 Richter der Republik Amalfi war . Leone, Gouverneur von Bitonto im Jahr 1204, brachte seine Familie in diese Stadt, wo er bis zu den letzten Vertretern der Familie Adel genoss.
