Ancient and very noble family, born from Castognole Monferrato, moved to live in Casale, called Roggeri or Rogeri, which spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. Francesco Maria, who was a lawyer in Casale, then senator (1703-11) and president of the Senate of Mantua, had as a gift from Gio. Battista Vialardi portions of Villanova Monferrato, of which feud was invested, with the noble title, on September 4 1734 his son, the lawyer Piero Maria. He married (1726) Domenica, of Count Tommaso Mathis of Cornegliano, and from these weddings Francesco Maria was born (n. Casale 1724, dec. 15 March 1778), who was first class decurion of Casale. He had numerous offspring from his marriage to Marianna Albertengo di Bagnolo. Pietro Giacomo was the first-born (n. Casale, 11 March 1770), who was invested with Villanova on 19 December 1780.
