Famiglia oriunda da Nizza. L'avocato Pietro Roissard, che sposò Anna Rosa, di Lorenzo Dettat, procreò l'avvocato Pietro (n. Chambery, 1706), il quale, avendo acquistato la proprietà denominata Bellet, ne fu infeudato il 12 settembre 1777 e investito col titolo baronale il 21 successivo novembre. Fu suo figlio Pio (n. Nizza, 7 maggio 1739, dec. 1819), che dalle sue nozze (1771) con Francesca Vedel ebbe Francesco e Michele, dal quale ultimo origina una linea secondogenita. Francesco (n. Nizza, 14 novembre 1773, dec. ivi 16 dic. 1 834), fu padre di Giambattista e di Leonardo. Quest'ultimo, che nacque in Nizza il 16 settembre 1816 e morì in Roma l'11 febbraio 1901, fu tenente generale comandante l'arma dei RR. Carabinieri e fece le campagne del 1848 e del '59.
