Questa famiglia è originaria di Lusignano, frazione di Albenga. Nel secolo XVII Andrea da Lusignano (dec. 1696) ebbe un figlio, Giovanni Antonio il quale a sua volta fu padre di tre maschi: Giacomo Maria, Vincenzo Maria e Andrea. I quali tre fratelli sono stipiti dei tre rami oggi viventi. Dal primo attraverso Gio. Antonio (il quale militò nell'esercito dei duchi di Milano e fu dichiarato appartenere all'ordine nobile con diploma consigliare di Albenga 13 gennaio 1774), Luigi aiutante di campo e segretario del generale Massena, (dec. 1833), Antonio, Luigi (con verbale 15 settembre 1885 dell'Albergo Ricci ascritto all'albergo stesso e fratello di Gerolamo, che fece le campagne italo-austriaca (1848-49) e di Crimea (1855), dec. al v.m. ispettore generale d'artiglieria, senatore del Regno (1892), dec. 1899), discendono cinque fratelli e quattro sorelle autorizzati con R.D. 27 marzo 1895
