La casa de R. es muy antigua en Murcia, donde sus ilustres hijos han sido siempre tenidos por hijos-dalgo notorios. Su origen fué en Francia; peros sus ascendientes pasaron a España a pelear contra los moros. Refiere Zurita que cuando Don Jaime el Conquistador hizo prisionero al rey moro de Mallorca, estaba con este un hijo suyo de 13 años, al cual acordó Don Jaime su proteccion, cuidando de que fuese instruido en nuestra santa Fé, y dándoles su nombre en la pila bautismal. Casó despues Don Jaime conforma a la voluntad de su regio y generoso padrino, con Doña Eva, doncella principal, hija de Martin Roldan.
